Protecting valuable research data

5.05pm to 5.30pm

It's hard to think of any other network that has such diverse requirements as a university. Students in their living rooms expect equivalent openness to a domestic broadband connection: in another building researchers need to work at the same security as in a company, hospital or government department. Treating this as a single security zone is bound to fail. Examples exist within universities of all the required technical, organisational and behavioural security measures, proving that they are compatible with academic lifestyles. This talk will report on a number of activities working out where and how they need to be used.
